Texts for a dead paper From 2001 to 2003 I wrote a fortnightly column for ‘Euskaldunon Egunkaria’, the only daily newspaper written entirely in Basque language at the time. The experience ended abruptly on February 20th, 2003. Not that my columns were so bad that they fired me; the paper was closed down by armed agents, its editors arrested and tortured, its workers and writers unemployed, and the readers withouts their paper. All in the name of the Spanish version of the ‘War on Terror’. If they wanted me to stop writing my columns, it worked---I never wrote a column on a paper again, just in case. But they weren’t that bad, were they? (They are all in Basque. These are just the titles. I can send you any of them, if interested)
